As you probably know, the Chicago Cubs have started their 100th consecutive season since winning their last World Series championship in 1908, and their 63rd consecutive season since reaching the Fall Classic for the last time in 1945. I always enjoy your articles. "Despite not winning anything since the days when people were in black-and-white, made no sound, and walked the streets with incredible speed..." made me laugh and the adage about expecting the other shoe to drop made me nod.

Being a bleacher creature for one day and drinking a copious amount of Old Style is the only way to take in a ball game. The stupid Cubs beat my Braves, in front of me, and I couldn't have cared less.

Pro teams. Anything intangible, which usually does not end in an "s", is not intimidating: Heat, Jazz, etc. And anything cartoonish. Mighty Ducks, comes to mind.
And the Phillies have a new minor league affiliate in Allentown, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Not so intimidating as much as odd.

Heat is hot. How hot? It might be too hot! I would take my chance with a cub any day over an iron pig. Are we talking about a living, iron, pig?!? That is downright terrifying.
