Pinellas Park, FL: Terri Schiavo, the brain-damaged woman at the center of a family battle fought on a national stage, died last Thursday morning, seemingly bringing to an end the bitter legal dispute between Terri Schiavos parents, Mary and Bob Schindler and Terris husband, Michael Schiavo. This also brought to an end Terri Schiavos record smashing Hospice stay of over 15 years - burying the competition.
Terris parents, who fought hard to "keep the record alive," were both saddened by todays news. At an impromptu press conference held moments after Terris death, Terris father Michael Schindler addressed the crowd of mourners and supports.
This is a sad day. We are very sad to see this wonderful streak end. You know, when this whole Hospice thing started 15 years ago; we figured it might be a year or two tops. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that wed be here now 15 years later. I guess thats why we were fighting so hard. Its hard to say goodbye to the ones you love. And everybody loves a streak. Terri was like the Cal Ripken Jr. of Hospice
Mary Schindler found it hard to speak We were hoping to keep this thing going for a 16th year. .I mean that was Terris favorite number. And we were in talks with Nike... she loved the support of the Nike Air Max Running shoes Im sorry. She broke down and couldn't continue.
Terri and Jesus
Doctor Jason Rosenthal was the physician who announced Terris Death. At the press conference he provided little detail as to the string of events that led up to her demise. We are still not 100% sure when she actually died. We had been sticking a mirror under her nose every hour and well with all the cameras, protestors, and things. I guess we got distracted and forgot. She probably died today. But we cant rule out sometime last week either.
Upon hearing the news of Terris death, many of those that had been gathered outside the Hospice doors for several weeks were noticeably shaken. Many gasped, cried, prayed, or continued selling T-shirts and bottled water. Many from the Christian Coalition and Operation Rescue wept openly and made plans for a memorial service Thursday Evening at 7:30 where donations would be accepted. Donations to Terris family would also be accepted they said.
In a related story Meredith Baxter-Birney has been tapped by Lifetime Television for Women to play Terri Schiavo in an upcoming made-for-TV movie called One woman, One Choice: The Terri Schiavo story
The hell?... Posted: 1/3/2006by: heavnr Smacktard?!! What year is this? And what is a ballhauler? Are you that deeply steeped in homosexuality? It's nice to be proud of your sexual conquests but please, sir. BTW if you are a girl post your number, haul these. I hadn't seen this article till now and I'm in pain again laughing. The picture of the lady collapsing is priceless and the caption is genius. She did stretch that damn thing out a helluva long time. Ice chips and insulin kind of lose their appeal after awhile. That's that good ol American dedication that brings a tear to your eye!! Only in America!! They should retire her hospital room and let no one else stay in it out of respect to that record. morons at phatphree Posted: 12/29/2005by: ballhauler Nice work, for having the link to your #1 article go straight to the Schiavo story. I don't like it here anymore, smacktards. You people are way too into yourselves. Who's a Hypocrite, Non-Judger? Posted: 4/7/2005by: Tom Let's see if I have this straight:
"I try not to judge, but..."
"You Are Gonna Burn."
Flippin' dumb-ass.
P.S. Hey, hey, you, you, get off of my blog... Poster Posted: 4/6/2005by: Skrid jr Does the Phat Phree gift shop carry the Terri and Jesus poster? If not do they carry it at Amazon, because I have a gift card from Christmas that my brother gave me that I need to use. Man, they both look so majestic in that picture. Don't even think that it's a coincidence that they both died around Easter. What a Pair Posted: 4/4/2005by: PJ II Never thought I'd see Cal Ripken Jr. and Meredith Baxter-Birney in the same sentence, I smell Broadway show, move over "Spamalot" My favorite line.. Posted: 4/4/2005by: Z-man "Terri was like the Cal Ripken Jr. of Hospice
TRUST FUND OR GOD Posted: 4/4/2005by: Jus Terri's husband has already spent more than the Trust Fund would be in legal fees and already said that he was going to give any profitable money to charity for similar cases. He was obviously not in it for the money. I stand by my statement that I would never want to be on the Schindler's list of hollier than than thou fuck heads. Hell the reason she got into that state in the first place was from psychological distress caused by her overcontroling parents. And now back to comedy! come on! Posted: 4/4/2005by: ahhh So Wrong this dude is something else Posted: 4/4/2005by: paul The reason doctor assisted suicide and euthanasia isn't legal is because the same assholes who are screaming "murder" won't let it be legal. Somehow they see it as their place to legislate how other people choose to die. Appearently it is wrong to want to die with some dignity. But what do evangelicals know about dignity?
And by the way, her husband got all the money he will ever see many years ago. He stood to gain nothing, except the piece of mind that came with honoring his wife's wishes.
The ONLY way you can even make this argument is if you know that her husband made up this story about his wife not wanting to be kept alive. And even if there was money involved, which there isn't, it seems a rather presumptious position to take if you know nothing of the people involved aside from what you've seen on TV. Oops Posted: 4/4/2005by: You are Gonna Burn She had a 750,000 medical trust fund that would be awarded to him. I am not religious. He asked that she be starved to death--lethal injection is ok for prisoners on death row but not for a brain-damaged woman? I hope you are all right and she was unable to feel the pain of her body breaking down. BTW, I am hardly conservative--I am a liberal democrat who is pro-choice. I just think this case was very sad. Sorry to cause an uproar. I was actually being very lighthearted in my response.
PS Why is it you can attack with your feelings but speaking mine makes me a "flipping dumbass" because I do not agree with you. I am not someone to call people names, but seems kind of hipocritical to me.
